Mozilla Firefox (officially abbreviated as Fx of fx and popularly abbreviated FF) in an open source web browser managed by the Mozilla Corporation. It runs on various version of Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and many other unix like operating systems. Firefox includes tabbed browsing, a spell checker, incremental find, live book marking, a download manager and an integrated search system that uses the user’s desired search engine. Functions can be added through add-ons created by third-party developers. It had 19.23 percent of the recorded usage share of web browsers as of July 2008, marking it the second-most popular browser in current use worldwide, after Internet Explorer.
The Mozilla Firefox project was created by Dave Hyatt and Blake Ross as an Experimental branch of the Mozilla project. Firefox 1.0 was released on Nov. (, 2004. Version 2.0 was released on Oct 24, 2006, After about Seven months of Alpha and Beta Development, its current stable release is version 3.0.1 released on July 16, 2008
The project which became Firefox started as an experimental branch of the Mozilla Application Suite called m/b (or mozilla/browser) When Sufficiently developed, binaries for public testing appeared in September 2002 under the name Phoenix.
